Press Release: Provenza seeks community input on rental conditions

Representative Karlee Provenza has launched a Community Tenant Survey in effort to better understanding renter struggles in Laramie and across Wyoming.

“I’ve received calls and emails from community members across the state dealing with landlord struggles related to unjustified rent hikes, unlivable conditions, and unresponsive landlords. It’s clear that hard working families who rent are being treated unfairly and are struggling to keep roofs over their head due to landlords who don’t follow the same Wyoming values as our communities.”

This survey is a part of Representative Provenza's ongoing commitment to understanding and addressing the needs of Wyoming residents, particularly in the realm of affordable and accessible housing. The survey aims to gather detailed insights from tenants across the state, covering various aspects of their rental experience including affordability, quality of housing, landlord relations, and accessibility.

Aggregated survey results will be shared publicly with county and city officials to work towards bipartisan renter protections at multiple levels of government that are closest to the people most impacted by dishonest and less community-oriented landlords.

"The policies moving forward won’t impact landlords that are already treating our neighbors honestly and with dignity,” Provenza said. “I am interested in ensuring Wyoming’s hard-working families get a fair shake in what they pay for.”

Renters across Wyoming are encouraged to participate in this survey. The insights gained will be invaluable in guiding policy decisions and legislative actions aimed at ensuring that every resident has access to safe, affordable, and quality housing.

The survey is available online and can be accessed through this form. The survey will be open for responses until January 15th.

Representative Provenza urges all renters to make their voices heard by participating in this important initiative. "Your feedback is essential in helping us build a stronger, more inclusive housing system in Wyoming," she added.
